Happy New Year 2010!
Blog, Family — By Rolando on December 31, 2009 10:13 pmBefore we get into the New Year, we’d just like to take a moment to reflect on 2009. It was a year of ups and downs. We rode out the bad economy while having Justice and Jasmine. Sure, timing could have been better, but we don’t really control these things do we. I guess it was God’s time for us.
Not sure it was a blessing though because these last 5 months has been very difficult. I’ve said in my last three posts that people say it will get better. I’m gonna slap the next person who says that! Everyone who says it is someone without kids, a singleton parent, or a parent that had kids one at a time. No one really understands us and what we’re going through.
Of course friends my age have kids that are in freakin college by now and we’re just starting out. They are way past this stage and can only empathize with us. We have no consistent support of any kind. It’s just me and Ebru. Once in awhile we get help from our sister-in-law and we appreciate that! We just too busy taking care of them that we don’t even have to to research for outside help.
We hope that the New Year we better. We hope that they both will sleep longer and cry less. Sometimes we feel that we don’t have normal babies? Either that or we’re just so green behind the ears that WE may be causing their pain and suffering. Either way, we hope next year is better. Next year is actually less than 2 hours away from the time of this post.
It’s also time for me to hit the hay and hopefully meet the New Year with renewed hope and more rest. I’m sure I speak for myself and Ebru when I say that our resolutions are for better health and exercise, assuming we get enough rest physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Thank you to our readers who provided their support and friendship!
Love you all! Have a great New Years!
More of Justice and Jasmine. Today they are exactly 5 months old.

Happy New Year! Ok I promise I won’t say that it’ll get better since it’s obviously still tough raising twins, and I have no kids of my own! But one thing I can see is that Justice and Jasmine look like very healthy and happy babies, so you two are doing a great job.
Hope you and your family have a great, and hopefully more stable, New Year
You’re right Maria, it sure is tough and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone who does not have family support. In actuality, we probably need at least 3 people to take care of 2 kids. This would allow one of the care givers to take a break.
But we’re trying with just us two and it’s the best that we can do. We just hope they grow out of what they are going through.
Hope you have a great New Year as well! Keep up the exercise routine! I’m sure it’s paying off!
Look at them sitting up!!! They are growing soooo fast
Happy New Year!
Debo
Hi Debo, we saw some very noticeable development this month, including sitting up, turning over, and being even more alert. Now if they’d just sleep through the night, they’d be perfect lol.
I absolutely LOVE the Holiday Family Picture!
Thanks Meleah! It’s a rare good picture of us all together.
Say, I like your new avatar showing your Macbook. I just picked up a 13″ Macbook Pro last month and love it!
I don’t know what it’s like to have twins, but I was left alone with our oldest, Dane, alot when Brett was serving in the Air Force, he was gone long stretches, Bomb sorties over seas for weeks, inconsistent flight schedules. I was exhausted!!! Mentally and physically! I had no help, it was just me and Dane. I do feel for you both. Dane was and still is a light sleeper, he did not nap longer than 40 minutes at a time and was like the energizer bunny!!! He got up every 2 hours to play or “snack”, 2 oz’s of formula…….it was very very frustrating!!
I have no advice for you, I just send prayers that the Baby God’s will hear yours and let you have some rest!!
Hang in there! On a positive note, I love your Christmas pictures!!! : )
Thanks Staci. We appreciate your support and understanding. Raising a kid by yourself isn’t easy. That’s kinda how it feels because we can not pond off one of the kids between ourselves because there are two of them.
Of course Jasmine doesn’t understand ‘be quite your brother is sleeping’. Or they both don’t understand, ‘I have to work early tomorrow, go to sleep’. I guess they are getting better, but it’s still far from being consistent.
We appreciate the positive thoughts. We just need some rest to get our sanity back lol.
