Jury Juggle

Sac Superior Court

After postponing my Jury Duty service last month I could no longer avoid the inevitable.  I had to report to the Sacramento Superior Court at 8AM today.  It wasn’t fun getting up early and driving with traffic this morning, but it had to be done.

The Jury Duty selection process seemed less painful this time around.  Even though it seemed to drag at times, I actually learned a lot.  It’s not something I’d want to do every year mind you, but it was interesting.

The judge makes all the difference.  He explained everything in layman’s terms, which I really appreciated and he justified every policy, every rule, and every law.  He even had a great sense of humor.

The jury seemed to be very patient during the process.  It’s interesting hearing other people’s answers to the qualification questions.  People look normal on the outside, but every one of the 18 potential jurors, which includes the backup jurors, had a story to tell.  Some where a good fit and others where not.  I’m still reflecting on the qualification questions and whether or not I’ll be a good fit.  Towards the end of today’s selection process, there was a definite jury juggle.

I haven’t been selected yet, so I have to report back tomorrow.  Hopefully, I’ll be bright-eyed and bushy tailed at 9AM.  I may be part of the juggle or the final 12.  We’ll see. . .
